Anyone heard of Switch Media?

Haven't had any experience of them myself, but this may be worth looking at:

Obviously I don't know if this is a true reflection of their business, but worth keeping in mind. I will be honest, we do offer hosting but I am not trying to put people down just did a quick google search.

There are lots of members here run quality hosting companies, if you post in the Tenders section I am sure you will get something to fit your needs.

Upon incorporating my company, I got a letter from Switch Media trying to sell me hosting, website etc.

Their prices are £5 for the first 12 months. (they don't state how much it is after that).

Has anyone had any experience with them?

Rule of thumb - discard each and every unsolicited correspondence you get sent to your registered office address. The only important ones are HMRC and Companies House.

A business that spends thousands of pounds a year getting data on the new incorporations, spend tens of thousands of pounds on mailing costs and spend hundred thousand pounds+ of additional linked costs (sales staff, telecom lines etc.) by sending out unsolicited marketing mail with a small conversion rate cannot be trusted.

You have to buy convenience. These sort of marketing mail are always going to rip you off. Its not someone trying to help you out but someone invading your privacy in effect to persuade you into purchasing a product or service.

These businesses typically spend £500,000+ a year to drum up business via these methods. If they are offering you a product or service for free or for very low cost - knowing they will get a low response rate with most people throwing their mail in the bin - how are they still in business?

If say only 1 in 100 contact them - only 1 in 30 who gets in contact will signup/buy - and only 1 in 10 purchase the upgrade... there is no money in it for the business apparently offering a good deal.

Sending letters for these "scams" are safer then a newspaper/magazine, radio or TV advertisement due to less regulation. Its merely a civil contract dispute AND your fault for entering a contract without reading the small print etc.

I signed up to their "Service" for the low fee of £5.00. The next year I got an invoice for a few hundred pounds. Carefully hidden in their terms and conditions (and I mean hidden), is a clause committing you to a vastly more expensive second year term.

I have refused to pay it, and would like to contest the contract on several grounds. I am researching other people who have had problems with the marketing practices of this predatory firm.

If anyone has experience with this firm, please get in touch.

Thank you.
