Anyone had or have a hotel?

Just watching The Hotel Inspector and I can see that running one is not that hard. I mean you just have to get the basics right and you will be in profit. I am wondering what do you think is it a viable business for London and what profit can i expect? Also what investment will be needed to open a small 20 rooms hotel plus the refurbishment? I have looked at some websites but the prices are very different...

Also why they changed Ruth Watson she was soo interesting the new one is a bit boring...

D With P's attitude is unfortunately not that unusual. Over the years I have lost count of the number of couples who have quit their stressful, unfulfilling (although usually high paying) jobs to set up their "dream" business - usually a pub/restaurant, newsagents or sometimes a boutique hotel.

In all cases, their expectations regarding a better work/life balance, more time with the kids etc do not materialise. Usually they are more stressed than they were before (The same bills coming in but no salaries to pay them and so on).

In the worst case, they lose everything. I am of course far too professional to say "I told you so...".

At least £4m for the property and renovation alone, assuming its in an outer suberb of the city and the last 3 owners got knifed to death. And lets be honest, a businesman that holds launch parties on a public pavement doesn't have that sort of cash anyway.

And it's not that easy to run a hotel.

Why don't you just stop being rediculous and focus on something achievable? You clearly want to have a business, so why not do something real about it? Start out as window cleaner and see where it goes for example.
