This is how the internet works these days. People scour the next for phrases like 'work from home' and once they find it they pounce with special offers and all sorts (not including my little customs here, just the newly signed up spammers).

Also:

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the useful information.

Here are some tips for a successful home based business.

The secret is the complete awareness regarding the significant characteristics of your business . It is equally crucial to have firm belief and self-confidence in the capacity of your products to appeal customers.

For a promising success, backend strategy is a must. You would need to provide better services to earn more profits.

I never realised it was possible to have such little information in so much text. "The secret is the complete awareness regarding the significant characteristics of your business ." That line is a corker.

I also love how the most obvious thing in the world of 'if you provide a better service you sell more' is referred to as 'backend strategy'.

Hi I started up my website as I am a stay at home mum, I found it hard to get childcare for my 2 little ones. I started making baby headbands for my little girl and its grown from there! I create beautiful handcrafted baby & girls headbands and hair clips. Please take a look ;-) lilbowpeep.co.uk

Hi I see your website... looks great. I have a background in graphics and my partner is a web developer. How have you found getting business at the moment?

I run lilbowpeep.co.uk. I was looking and see you do printing. How much do you charge for business card full colour print front and back?

HI thanks for the price, I have also been searching for some labels for packaging. My labels are about 55mm x 40mm oval shape. Do you do printing onto vinyl? or another option I was thinking of was cards for packaging printed both sides size 130 x 80mm I got the design. If you don't mind if you can give me a price for that, Thanks you

We can print onto anything..... what packaging do you use, have you thought about printed packaging, i have a contact at PostSafe.co.uk who can custom print onto there range of products.

If you start printing custom sizes it becomes exspensive, what about bringing the design down to A7 (105mm x 74xx) that way, 5000 would be £65

Hi,

Love this thread! I started working from home 2 months ago as a recruitment consultant. Already have some great clients which I am really chuffed about. I have a 9 month old daughter and a husband in the forces so wanted some flexibilty and no commutes after a long day in the office. I have an excellent childminder who is an angel when my husband is away. After years of working for companies and working to targets, I am now in a position where I do a job I love and have time with my daughter and husband when hes home. In the process of getting my website sorted and really should crack on instead of being on here!!

It's been really interesting re-reading this thread, I originally posted on it in Jan 2008 when my business was 2 years old :)

Over 3 years later, and Chiggs is still going strong, I'm still running the business from home, and despite the 'responsibility' of running my own business I love being my own boss. There's not a day goes by that I don't feel thankful for the flexibility it gives me to work around my family (especially at this time of year with parent's afternoons at school, sports days, early finishes, extra clubs and of course the school holidays!:D)

After getting made redundant two years ago, I setup in my back office. Its great working for yourself you can take time off for a few hours and then just make it up in the evening or weekend.
I recently looked at office space but its still too expensive and the broadband is way overpriced compared to domestic tariffs!
I now have 4 laptops and 2 big apple macs (with 27 and 30inch screens) all grinding away doing all the work for me and its always a bit of a shock to clients when they come around :) and see that I have more computing power most £m competitors.

It's great to hear the words 'responsible' and 'flexible', if working at home was broken down to two words they might just be the ones!

As for office space, I found it seemed cheap but even less expensive to work at home. The only thing I lack is a dedicated space, but I enjoy being able to work from any one of my rooms depending on whether I want to work in a low-lit, bright, light or snug room!

Love that you love this post, I think it would be great to hear some motivational ideas, some funny stories and of course successful work at home tales!
