I'm with BannerWare on this. Don't be tempted to simply undercut his existing supplier unless there's plenty of margin in it - all too often you end up with business that brings you no money. Try and offer something better, whether it's quality, product range, service . Why should he change from his existing supplier? Don't feel pressurised to give quotes at this stage but instead listen, take down facts and then get right back to him once you've had a chance to think it through and cost it .
