Any ideas for a good software testing automation tool?

Original Post:

Hi,

We are a digital marketing agency, and developing quite a few websites. We also provide maintenance services.

We have quite a few clients, but one challenge our developer has is being able to monitor when a website breaks down from a UI perspective. We tried various in-house built solutions, but we were not able to capture all the errors we tested against.

We have now started to look into ready-made test automation tools, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? And if there are any recommendations?

Load Testing is also another area that we play with to ensure the websites are secure, my understanding is that the software testing tools are also including this kind of functionality.

Anyway, this is not too technical, tx

Honest answer - go to the local uni, grab some students and recruit them as a usability testing team on a zero hours basis.

They will find edge cases using a system faster than any automated solution and say things like "when i am in x place, i would want to go to y next, why do i have to go back up 3 menus and then down again".

I did IT recruitment for over 25 years, SW testing was a nightmare to recruit for as half the testers worked for big companies and were basically script kiddies who just followed a menu, the other half were expensive. I don't remember any testing tool that actually did what it said on the tin well enough to not still need UAT and with UI that is currently too subjective for those testing tools to handle.

There are many options for test automation, and the best one depends on your likes and requirements. I suggest you use zaptest (look at this site for details) as I use it myself.
In terms of load testing, many software testing tools include this functionality, and it's essential to consider this when selecting a tool.
It's great to see that you're taking steps to ensure the websites you develop and maintain are secure and error-free. Test automation can help with this. Good luck!

    Hi Constantin!

The choice of a tool depends on your project requirements, budget, and your team's technical expertise.
I highly recommend <removed>, it also has a lot of automation and is easy to deploy.
