the idea:

I have been thinking about creating a device that could create a very accurate topography of a lake bed.

Combining GPS, sonar, remotely operated boat and OS maps I believe i could create such a device and as such create a cottage industry for myself.

the questions:

Ive been searching online and as far as i'm aware there are no companies offering such a service. does anyone know of anyone?

as a fishery owner, would this type of service appeal to you?

any advice would be most welcome.

I have not invested any money in this idea yet. only my time

The technology for accurate mapping is not new. Try searching for "seabed mapping systems" and you'll see some possibilities. The remote controlled boat may be a twist, but I would question its practicalities. When the boat breaks you'll have to go to collect it and it could pose a hazard to other water users.
Surveying services for sea and lake beds do exist (example), but maybe you can find a niche?
