Hello Everyone,

Hi Kate

BIG step back!!

Enthusiasm & ambition are great, but you need to get things in the right order. As poinnted out you are actually looking to start a business & make it successful. Also, you are not an entrepreneur as you have not yet achieved business success. (Sorry, but this is becomming the most grossly misused term in business circles. As Old Al said on The Apprentice 'entrepreneur is a title bestowed on you not one you award yourself')

To get some decent advice:

What sort of business are you thinking of?
How far have you got in your planning?
What information can we help you with on the forum?

Best of luck!

From Wikipedia;

An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea and is accountable for the inherent risks and the outcome.[note 1] The term was originally a loanword from French and was first defined by the Irish-French economist Richard Cantillon. Entrepreneur in English is a term applied to a person who is willing to launch a new venture or enterprise and accept full responsibility for the outcome. Jean-Baptiste Say, a French economist, is believed to have coined the word "entrepreneur" in the 19th century - he defined an entrepreneur as "one who undertakes an enterprise, especially a contractor, acting as intermediatory between capital and labour".[

So you are probably an "aspiring entrepreneur" - anyway good luck with it!

before you embark on starting - think seriously about buying a business. great time to buy, lots of opportunities and with incumbent revenues, customers, suppliers, leases, branding etc. it deflects a lot of the risk and opportunity cost of starting from scratch. i'm a veteran of start ups and know how much time it can take to gain momentum. just a thought ...
