    Hi All

I notice Amazon are promoting sigining up to sell on amazon.jp (Japan). I know the seller central part is in english but what about the adverts i guess you need a proper translation service?

So I guess the question is - is Amazon.jp worthwhile and if so, what services do you use to get it up and running?

    Cheers mike

    Hi Mike,

I saw a thread on the Amazon forum discussing selling on the Japanese site.

The main issue was that they stipulate that you have to be able to speak/type in Japanese. It was not deemed possible to use an online tool such as Google Translate, you had to have a much better understanding of the language. This has put most people off the idea.

One seller that managed to actually start selling on the platform, (I think they had a son studying Japanese), said it wasn't even very good for sales, but obviously that depends how popular each seller's items are.

"It becomes popular in Japan if you sell cool stuff!" - Ahh google translate seems to work for this text!

Yes, but the quality of the translation is why they want you to be able to actually speak or communicate in Japanese. Google is enough to get the gist of what's being said, but it's clearly machine translated.

A more accurate translation of what I wrote was: "If you sell cool stuff, it'll be popular in Japan" (the present and future tense being the same in Japanese).
