I am looking to expand from our website and wondered what Amazon is like to use, more importantly if anyone has had any bad experiences. We would look at dropshipping format..... just wondered as we have only used and own resources todate..

I think Amazon is a great sales channel, they take around 15% but it doesn't cost anything to open a basic marketplace account and list items for sale.

If your dropshipping just be careful and make sure your suppliers really are on the ball with despatch times, I hope they are UK based? Dropshipping from China on Amazon I don't think you would survive too long.

Amazon insist orders are despatched within 2 days and would not support you if you told them you were dropshipping.

When you read about people who have had problems it is usually due to not being able to deliver within a reasonable time and a couple of complaints and Amazon will drop you with no chance of a return.

Amazon have a very high trust factor with the public and will bring in quite a few sales. If you're thinking of selling your cleaning products by Amazon, I'm not sure an ordinary seller account (the free one) lets you list products that are not in the Amazon inventory - you need one of the advanced accounts for that.
We would look at dropshipping format.....
Are you referring here to Fulfilment By Amazon? That's not strictly dropshipping, as Amazon hold your stock and ship if for you (they also charge you for the warehouse space).

Amazon works really well for us but it does have it's drawbacks.

Apart from the 15% that they take, (on postage as well:eek:) you will also be competing with every man and his dog on price. In addition to this, you have a set of demanding customer service metrics which mean that customer expectations are high.

Still, if your margins can handle the commision and your systems the service, then it works really well.

Hi, thanks for your comments, I meant in regard to dropshipping that we would deliver goods direct from us (in stock) and could easily meet the 2 day deadline.... would i be able to do this or do I have to send the stock to them, for them to hold:|

OK, with you now. That's how most people do it, infact there are several people on here who have had a bad experience using Amazon's Fulfilment Service.
Thanks.... I will probably give it a try, its worth a shot for a few months.... nothing ventured, nothing gained.... mind you said that to her in doors and it wasn't taking in quite the same light...
