Alternative to a Brochure

Hi guys

Many of my competitors have large brochures which i simply cannot afford to produce as a new business.

As such I'm looking to find a good alternative and wondered what recommendations were from those in the know.

I've looked at an open out pamphlet type design and feel this could work but got quoted £600 for 1000 of these inc the artwork.

To be honest I would much rather pay less and have less in quantity and then order more as and when needed.

We are attending an event at the start of June and need something to give to our potential customers demonstrating a range of our products and prices and as such would appreciate anybody;s thoughts and/or prices.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

If I were you I'd commission the artwork and printing separately. Find a designer whose style you like and arrange for them to do the artwork for a fixed price. Then shop around for competitive deals on printing. Usually the price difference between, say 1000 and 2000 brochures isn't massive and you can always try negotiating a larger volume for your budget.

Richard,

Emily makes a good point. The other angle is to find a printer with an in house designer and ask them to quote for an entire package and design & print quoted individually. In either case the main thing is to work with your designer to get a layout and design you are happy with and then on payment make sure you get a file containing all you've paid for - actual designs, font details and colour references.

On the printing side of things; digital print set-ups will do you the short run stuff with quick deliveries whereas traditional litho printers will handle the larger runs but need a longer lead time. The price per unit will be greater going digital compared to litho but your min. qtys wil be much, much less - single digits if really necessary.

Either way, as long as you hold the print ready artwork you're in a better position to decide how to split your print run based on price and quantity requirement.

Good luck,
Mark
