Airline not fully compensate me for expenses and rejected cancelled flight compensation

A well known airline who cancelled our flight hasn't fully compensated me for the rerouting expenses and said they didn't have to pay any compensation because the cancellation was due to bad weather conditions.

They assured us at the time they would pay if we flew with a different airline because the next flight they could put us on was 4 days later. However they have only paid for just under half of the full claim with no breakdown to what was covered or anything and said that's the final settlement.

When speaking to a travel no win no fee solicitor, they mentioned they would be able to check the actual reason against a database and let me know whether we could claim or not. Does anyone know if this database is public ? As I would like to see myself.

The solicitor I spoke to wanted 30% + VAT if they could help us. Has anyone used one with a better rate that they can recommend?

Thanks

Which airline was it?

The airline has to give you the full reason and there are public available data on each flight. A good place to start is flyertalk.com find the airline on there and ask.

Some airlines are notorious for not paying up on legitimate claims.

25% plus VAT i.e 30% no collection, no fee is typical of the market. Some airlines will not pay out unless they actually receive a Court claim. Using a third party saves a lot of time and they will have experience of dealing with airlines that choose to dispute the claim. Flightright are a very good Company when it comes to dealing with claims of this nature https://www.flightright.co.uk/
