And very efficient it was too when I phoned it yesterday!

I hate to agree with you, but yes I've actually found it to be extremly efficient too (most certainly not a word I generally associate with HMRC!)

As a result of the phonecall they had to post some file copy documents out to me, so maybe I should withhold my praise until I see how long it takes to arrive!!

Probably wise:)

Yes I rang today re a limited company client who has CIS owing to him.

They gave me the PAYE number to ring.

I put the CIS amount on the P35. I have wriiten several letters which they say were not received. I phoned three weeks ago and was told there was a three week delay in dealing with queries but someone would ring me. I phoned today and was told the delay was 55 working days.

The company has ceased trading and I want to close it down but I can't until all the money is in.

You can't really charge the client for the time involved which is significant. It makes it had to earn a living.

I have called them on a few occasions and was very pleasantly surprised - compared to the standard line: call answered quickly and queries handled in an helpful and efficient manner.

I agree the calls are answered quickly and the staff are pleasant but they always were but too often they can't help and they promise you a call back that never happens.

I had one client whose 5K rebate was stopped. When I requested it there didn't seem to be a problem. It was only when I rang to ask why it hadn't been sent I found out it had been stopped but they couldn't say why. It took weeks and numerous calls to get to the bottom of it. I was continually promised calls that never happened. The reason was legitimate but they should tell you if there is a problem and be able to say why.

The CIS rebate I spoke of earlier. I had already been chasing it up. When I rang and was told someone would ring within 3 weeks I passed this on to the client. Then I had to go back and say well now its 55 days.

Yes they are pleasant but it's no better it costs me hours of unpaid time
