Anyone got any experience or knows how to approach Affinity Marketing.

Ie getting another company to promote one of your products.

If you give another company something to give away on your behalf through there website or email list does this benefit both parties and is it a commonplace thing???

Just read that this type of marketing is the best you can do but I haven't seen it in action.

Your description sounded very much like affiliate marketing and even has synergies with the new craze of crowdsourcing. I believe that not only do you have the benefit of more people promoting your product and having access to a different following but also the variation on the message portrayed ups your chances of extending into markets that you may not have access to.

affinity marketing is more or less the same as affiliate marketing but "I think" it promotes the product without monetary reward.

ie A website advertising holidays may run a win a holiday competition with the prize supplied by another company.

the company supplying the holiday get good publicity and maybe use of the list of entrants to market to afterwards and the website gets good content to add to their site to draw more viewers at no cost to themselves.

the above is hypothetical and not sure if it works like that but I would like to hear if anybody has ever promoted something along them lines.

You learn something new each day. The only experience I have had is people adding my logo / company details to their website in exchange for discount in their order.

But I think that completely different to what you are talking about. Sorry

Affinity marketing is a technique used by marketers whereby one brand, typically one with strong customer relations, seeks to offer its customers added value through a product provided by a second company. This second company benefits from access to an increased number of customers and from the strong relationship the first company has with its customers.

Do you know of any examples?
