I've employed an agency to handle my adwords campaign. On Bing/Yahoo I appear at the top of search results for 6 separate keyword phrases. Great!

But .... on Google - I've NEVER seen my ads. Out of 6 people I've asked to search on google for my keywords, only 2 have seen my ad show.

Not getting straight answers out of agency. Getting a feeling in the pit of my stomach I've been scammed. It is puzzling though - went to the Library this afternoon and my ads appeared in position 1 on google for all keywords.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Generally Bing and yahoo will be low traffic sources in our experience no traffic.. But it depends on your keyword and your market if bing and yahoo are for you.

Google has a lot of rules for what can ads are allowed on there network. There is multiple reasons why it might not be showing that maybe because your website isnt optimized for the keywords or it could be that the keywords need specific "proof".

These are normally the 2 rules that stop a ad being approved, it could also be that the traffic on bing and yahoo is a lot cheaper.

If you wanna drop me a pm with your basic ad copy, keywords and landing page I can let you know if I see any problems why your ad may not have been accepted.

It could also be that its taking time to be accepted.

Have you checked your adwords account? OR are they running it through theres? :|

Yes, they are running Adwords through their own account. It's not the case that Google has not accepted the Ad. As I said, and what is most puzzling, I've seen the ad in position 1 on Google today using my local library internet access console.

In 6 days running an Ad with Google's estimation of 5000 local monthly searches (UK), I've had 1 (Yes 1) visit.

Chances are your keyword research is incorrect, the amount of people that tell me they have 1000s of searches then when done correctly they have 0 is amazing.

This is the problem with companys who do seo and adwords they accept the customers keywords and dont tell them that they suck so to make easy money its a sad state of affairs :(

Drop me a pm ill check it then tell you how to do it right if your doing it wrong.

You should also ask them how many impressions it has received.

Plus thats only 166 visitors a day if the figure is correct, depending on your ad CTR you may only get 1 click a day.

Plus google figures are based on a 12 month period you may not be in the best month for that keyword.

3rd edit: if your CTR is low then it will get less impressions unless the CPC is raised

So the question is, what do those 2 people have in common with the library and not in common with the other 4 people?

It could be that the ads are shown in a particular geo region and that the IP addresses of the 2 people and the library are within that region, but the other people's IP addresses aren't.

Or it could be that the ads are only being shown at particular times of the day.

Or maybe you are quickly hitting your daily budget on Google but not Bing/Yahoo, so, at the time you are checking your ads have expired for the day?

    Just a thought...

    <cynicism>
You're not implying that some of these £99 a month agencies might set a 50p daily allowance, ensure the persons ad is seen the guaranteed once a day, spend £15 a month maximum, and pocket the other £84 are you ?

Your cynicism might well be justified .... but then again??
I really don't know. This one really has me utterly mystified.

Tried again today - went to the Library, googled all 6 keyword terms. They appear at top of search results. Went next door immediately afterwards to a friend's machine that I had not tried before. NOTHING, ZIP! Just all my lovely competitor ads there.

To be fair to the ad agency, they "say" they are as puzzled as me. They "say" they are trying to get an answer out of google.

Massively frustrating. My launch week has been a total disaster. I am effectively "invisible" to the majority.

Ask the agency to provide you with the Adwords account login details and check for yourself.

We initially searched and talked to many agencies for set up and manage our Adwords campaigns but when really drilled down into what they will be doing, it turned out that they were only be spending one day a month on our account in total - so you are probably getting 8 hours a month worth of work if that.

We then decided to buy a book on Adwords only cost up around £9, followed the steps and instructions and within 2-3 days we were already driving quality traffic and managing the account for a few minutes a day the way we like as and when we like.

However, if you have not got the resource or time to do it yourself then you need to ask your agency to justify their cost and provide you with regular reports on clicks, conversions, cost etc...

Try viewing your adverts via the ad preview tool, generally the position you see on here is the correct one, your browser could be showing personalised results for example, also if you're constantly searching for the same keywords on a regular basis and not clicking, then Google can show odd results as it thinks your not finding what your after, therefore clear your cookies, temp files and browsing history before you search again.
