Advice

Hi there, i am a disabled person, and started a telecom repair business on my own in 2001 with my own personal funding, and just wondered if anyone knows of any grants or benefits I may have been entitled to, and if so is it now too late to claim.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thaks,
Gerry.

Gerry. You dont say how old you are or how you business is doing and whether funding for expansion may be possible.

To ask if you NOW can claim any benefits that were or may have been available nearly 10 years ago is tottaly unrealistic. I mean we have had 3 elections since then all with different promises. The short answer then is NO.

I will give you one tip however. There are rumours that the Gov are going to scrap the mobility scheme which I understand is part of the higher disability allowance. This is after Labour already restricted claims to the under 65's. I would check to see if you are entilted then if not already claiming.

Hi Gerry,

Grant support is a bit limited at present and is dependent on where your business is based as it generally is linked to local authorities who run all the Business Gateway contracts.

Get in touch with your local Business Gateway to find out what they have available to you. The fact that you started in 2001 I think may make you ineligible for start up funding but there may be other funding.

Are you Glasgow based? I think the previous thread reply meant G4B which is Glasgow 4 Business fund for businesses over 12 months old.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Zoë
