Hi,
So am looking to start printing on baby sleepsuit, grows, kids T-shirt etc both texts and pictures. Does anyone do a similar business? Any Advice will be appreciated and if it is a profitable business?
Thank you
Have you worked out route to market and competitors? There are loads doing this on eBay and the like on the cheaper end of things by sticking a picture of Frozen they have grabbed and a cheap blank. Would avoid anything like that for obvious reasons and aim at a slightly higher market where quality and design might be more appreciated. People love spending money on babies, just need to position yourself well to take your piece. Facebook marketing seems to be a good option these days as well.
I'd echo what ADW has said. We are in the print business and do alot of personlised products, but every man and his dog is doing it (mainly thanks to the many thousands of tutorial videos online). However, if you do decide to properly design your products, and get decent quality blanks, you will be able to sell at higher prices because no-one wants their newborn baby in a cheap thin babygrow that cost 50p for you to make.
Have a look to see if you can get organic materials...this will rule out sublimation as organic materials will be cotton (although you can use a polyester spray), but if you get yourself a vinyl cutter, you can do some great designs on high quality t shirt transfers, or there are also laser transfers that are self weeding if you have a decent laser printer.
If you're thinking of going down the route of screen printing, there are often places where you can go and use their screen printing equipment for an hour or two and just pay for the time you're there, but I've never tried screen printing so can't advise you there.
Thank you for the Advice, am looking into using vinyl cutter/heat press and designing my vectors to avoid copyright issues. Only issue am having is sourcing for babygrows.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be grateful.
