Advice on laptop and printer

Hi,

I'm opening a tile showroom and will need a laptop/desktop and printer. I'm out of touch with this kind of thing as I've been on the tools for the last 8 years and only use the laptop at home for internet and word (invoices & quotes).

I don't need anything to fancy, just something that is fairly quick and that does general business tasks - book-keeping, invoices and internet etc.

The printer needs to be reliable as I will be printing invoices out with every transaction. Not sure what is the best type of printer to get, so would appreciate any advice and where is a good place to buy,

Thanks

I bought an all in one Epson wf-2510 printer of amazon and works well for me. Think I spent £80. The first one was a HP which I sent back. If you do a lot of printing it may be worth considering a laser printer instead.

As for laptop sounds as if you will not be doing any heavy processing so any laptop made within the last few years should do. Not sure what your budget is but plenty of second hands on ebay. I personally prefer Dell but Samsung seem to be quite popular also. Make sure its got at least 2 GHz processor and 2Mb RAM. Hard drives are usually a decent size nowadays so unless you have big files wouldn't worry to much.

Windows 7 operating system and microsoft office 2010 should have you up and running in no time. Good luck

If I was you I'd opt for a laser printer. Much quicker and cheaper than using Inkjet printers. Make sure if can hold a decent amount of paper, as you don't want to be refilling it multiple times a day, and it might be worth having Duplex Printing, which enables you to print on both sides of the paper - for example, having the invoice details printed on one side, and your terms and conditions printed on the reverse.

I have a HP Envy M6 Laptop... Ok Windows 8 but 8.1 is official in a few weeks. Does the job very well... and the fingerprint scanner secures all the log on info... But 1Tgb HDD and a 8Gb ram... and they can be had for £500 or so now... but a great do it all laptop :D

Trust me its worth it... I have been running the preview for a month now... 8.1 official will have (apparently) a normal (ish) start menu feature but for me Classic shell suffices :)

But a head up - The official 8.1 will be launched in the UK in October.
