Hello,

I am looking to import my first large shipment of goods from China. I am however struggling to get to grips of the steps i need to take to be able to get the goods from customs. Can anyone please tell me the forms i need to fill out to ave the products released? All the talk of CFSP and EORIs has confused me.

Hi TIA,

In order to have your goods cleared through customs you will need to engage
the services of a Freight Forwarder.

You will need to supply them with the following documents :

1) Original Bill of Lading
2) Commercial Invoice
3) Packing List
4) Certificate of Origin - if required
5) Any other certificates or documents that may be required

You will also need to have an EORI Number, which can be applied for by downloading a C220A from the customs web site.

The importer will clear your goods for you, pay any duty / vat on you behalf to customs.

You will need to pay them their charges and you can then have the goods delivered to you or collect from their warehouse at or close to the port of arrival.
