Hi Guys!

I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice on a small matter.

What is a notice of intended dividends? I recently saw one such notice for a business acquaintance of mine in The London Gazzette. It's to do with when he was made Bankrupt in 1994 & the notice states that he’s since been discharged.

It's been 25 years since his bankruptcy why would they be printing it in 2019?

I hope someone can help.

Regards

    Hi

Insolvency cases can last for many years but I have to admit 25 years is odd.

Anyway a notice of intended dividends is just that. The trustee has money to distribute to creditors and giving notice of the same so that creditors can make a claim if they wish.

Chances are some of the original creditors have disappeared / moved given the time periods involved

    Regards

    Hi Gavin,

    Thanks for replying.

I just feel that it's a little odd considering that his bankruptcy happened so long ago & it's a matter still being dealt with.

25 years is very unusual but from time to time assets, eg old pension policies, are found which lead to dividends becoming available on old cases.
