Advice Needed - small debt recovery, time sensitive!

Hi everyone,
I am new to the form but need help urgently. I have a client who owes about £600 and is soon to be leaving the UK to return to live in the States (in 2-3 weeks). I have only just become aware of this so have limited time to sort this out! I have been searching for a debt collection agency who will take it on but most seem to have a minimum of £1000 debt. Does anyone out there know anyone who might be able to help?!

To be honest, if you are thinking about the legal route, forget it, but the time you've issued your notices of action, then actually taken them to court it will be too late. Even if it wasn't too late, they're leaving the UK so you're less likely to be able to collect any debt from them anyway.

I don't think there is much you can do other than take it on the chin. Whatever you do DON'T go paying a debt collection company upfront to collect it. If you can find one that will even take this on, make sure they're paid out of anything they collect. You could offer then a bigger than normal % due to the time-scales, but I think you'll still struggle to get anyone (who's not trying to fleece you) to want to chase this.

Rangers1, your time is indeed limited but it's worth a try. My company (The Debt Recovery Bureau) only charge on success (a percentage of any money recovered) and would be willing to look at this case for you but cannot of course guarantee success. Please send me a message if interested.
