Hi Everyone
Please does anyone have any suggestions/advice on courier companies that deliver heavy, fragile, high value items.
Every 5/6 months we receive a large order which varies from 100kg to 250kg which needs delivering with in UK usually London but sometimes Scotland.
We sell skincare oils in heavy weight glass bottles/boxed and always very well packaged. The value of each consignment is between 2k-5k. There are no time constraints by that I mean it doesn't have to be next day.
I'm really struggling to find a company that covers all those bases, please any ideas ??

It occurs to me that maybe you need more than one courier company depending on the size, weight & delivery criteria of your shipments. In that regard can recommend VA Distribution Swindon who operate discounted courier services working with all the major players as well as storage and fulfillment.

Where about's are you based?

i.e. where does the consignment start from in the UK.

I know a bloke who'd be happy to provide a service to you.

Google couriers, try one. That's who I meant.

Perhaps they don't want to ship glass / fragile as they have had to pay out too many times?

APC do some fragile and glass stuff. That I know for certain.

I have the perfect company for you! These people specialise in providing EXACTY the service that you are looking for and yes, they cover the entire UK inc. the Highlands and islands. Delivery is always by two people and every delivery is not just recorded, but the customer is asked to speak to the depot on the telephone at the point of delivery and that call is recorded.

They do all the high-value items for Panasonic and their broadcast division in particular. Every item is unpacked and the damage-free status is witnessed by the customer.

These guys delivered for me last week some furniture, was an incredible service (2 guys delivering), I didn't need to call the depot though.

The calling in is an add-on service that Panasonic Broadcast pay a little extra for.

You can even pay to have them do things like build flat-pack furniture or check high-value computers for function.
Sounds awesome, wish I didn't get my furniture delivered pre-built now ha!

For the opening poster, could you potentially not use a pallet company and put the stock on a pallet. If it is a small amount but "larger" weight it may look silly but means you can wrap really well?

Yes good point Alan we had thought of that. Think that's what we will do for our larger consignment
