Hello everyone,

So I go to renew my car insurance today and I have business use. I tell them that I am going to get a bit of sign writing on the back advertising my business , nothing major just the usual - strap line, web address and contact number.

I get told "we wont insure you and if you have an accident we won't pay out as your insurance will be invalid". But what is strange they will allow me to have magnetic signs !!

Just a warning to you all as you may have added advertising and not told your insurance company.

Regards

Darren

Are you sure? I would definitely be clarifying this with someone who knows what they're talking about (not just a customer services lackey).

Surely at the worst I can only imagine it counts as a 'cosmetic modification' - perhaps declarable but unlikely to affect your premium in any meaningful way. At best surely it's irrelevant! I'm sure all of these cars driving around with bumper sticks on are much more dangerous than those without....

Aahh the world we live in huh?
