Advertising & Marketing my website.......

R

Good Afternoon

I'm looking for some advice on ways in which I can get more traffic to my website. I think I've got a good domain name **domain removed** lovely product and I'm offering free delivery but I'm still only turning out a couple of orders each day. I've tried Google Ads but it seemed really expensive for the amount of business I'm doing.

I have got a small budget set aside for advertising and marketing but I don't want to blow it all in a couple of months.

Any ideas would be gratefully received...........

Thank you!

Agree with Eagle, social media is absolutely good for the starters, and build the customer relationship. You can submit your website to the directory websites, bookmark websites etc. They are free. Meanwhile, you can try to plan a promotion, for example, giveaway some gifts, discounts, coupon, then you can submit your website to some deal or freebie websites.
Anyway, there are lots of ways to promote your website and get traffic for free, not only the Google ads. :)

Hi,

You can market yourself for free by joining popular social media websites like twitter and facebook. For starters, your business will get popular and the amount of traffic will increase steadily. After this you can spend money on marketing campaigns.

Thanks :)

Actually jewellery.me isn't that good a domain name as the .me is associated with personal pages rather than an online store however it not more visitors you need it's more customers.

How many visitors do you currently get. If you are picking up a couple of orders per day from 100(ish) visitors then you are already doing well. What youn eed to be doing is working on improving your conversion rate. This will in turn make the site more SE friendly which will give you a better ranking.

Social networking may help a little but the effort expended may outweigh the finacial benefits. Remember as well that you are entering a very competitve field against some sites who will be spending a lot on marketing and promotion so you need to find a little niche rahter than go head to head with the larger sites.

Google adwords can be cheap is you go off the beaten track. Rather than advertise jwewellery try advertising 'unusual braclets' or 'pyramid stretch bangle'. Very low competition and therefore cheap. It also means the visitor is very targeted about what they want and will land on the exact product match.

SEO aside I'd still have to agree with that. In my opinion a name like that actually hinders your brand-building as it has a rather generic feel. I've seen established companies grab a domain like that and work it well but they already have the brand behind them. An example of this in the DJ equipment world is Sapphires who have been around for 20 years and went with decks.co.uk.

Something like GooderhamJewellery.co.uk (i know thats not you but i saw the name on your site!) would feel more branded and tangible to me.... I dont go to books.com, I go to amazon!

Your sites really nice which is a good start though!

most folks have already mentioned social networking sites like twitter/facebook but don't forget to:

1. Include you site in your email signature
2. Write articles and submit them to the relevant groups
3. Press releases are always good
4. Submit articles to relevant publications in your space (assuming jewellery)

All of the above are free... when looking to spend money check whether a ppc ad in your space is better value for money vs a fixed listing price.

If you want to try something new (and very economical) advertise on mobile phone optimized sites & directories (including keyword optimized domains like goldjewellery, goldshop or goldsmith) then drop me a note or check http://dottelads.com.

I'd add to this, submit your website to web directories as it will increase the visibility of your website. Google likes web directory submitted websites.

Hi

I run a new online business and I've found that Twitter and Facebook are a great way of getting your website known and out there. It it slow and time consuming to build up but as word spreads hopefully you'll see some results. Also google "free directories" and add yourself to a few of them.

Good luck

Kim
