Advertising company using my details without my permission.

Yesterday i received an email from a website company saying they had added my details to their directory with no cost to me. The details are wrong and they have posted my name with my work address and phone number, which may lead to me receiving mail etc addressed to me at my work, which isn't encouraged. I rent some space in a building and use my home address for any correspondence; this was agreed when i began renting.

I contacted them and asked for them to remove the listing but haven't heard anything back, and the listing is still visible.

Where do i stand with this? What can i do?

I would wait to see what response you get if any and then maybe threaten with legal action if they fail to remove as you have not given your permission for this. I'm sure someone with knowledge of Data Protection law would be able to assist you.

What they told you in return of your complain? If their response is encouraging then you should wait for some time.
