So I could set up a project? What type of project could I put. Could I put ads for 1 year?

Let me guide you-

You could put for example on your project description that you are looking for freelancers to help you sell some ad space on your website. This could be a 1 year long project or 6 months project. The project is commission based and depend on how many customers they bring- For each customer, the freelancer gets a %.

So better list it on a fixed project with a nominal amount of money, the freelancer will expect to get.

You could choose the starting date of the project and the end date. All it's up to you.
You must also choose when you expect freelancers to provide bids. For example, the project should be listed on the site for let say 30 days- and after the 30 days, you review proposals and choose the best.

You have nothing to pay and its free to post a project. You could list as many projects as you like and the Admin section would review your projects before approval.
