Adsense

El Dreamer

my next question is about "placing" adsense ads on a page....

would you consider it wrong if i put a "post new thread" link on top of an advert so if you accidenty missed the button i could claim it as a click?

At best this is a grey area that needs to be avoided and at worst it is cheating the system and might get your account suspended!

Think about it, someone just PAID for the click that your reader 'accidently' pressed. The person who is paying for these clicks didn't get a new customer, he didn't attract a person that might convert and it further damaged his website's reputation when the person who clicked soon pressed the 'back button' and thus affect the bounce rate of the advertiser.

Once advertisers notice that low-quality clicks are coming from your site it will then affect your CPC.

Hope this helps.

That looks more like a normal paid banner ad being delivered by Sift to me.
The red background just above and below the new thread button has been added to blend in with a specific banner.

The top and bottom red bit above the button both act as the button link and there is about 10px between the new thread button and the banner.

Personaly can't see much wrong with it, they could have made the area above and below the new thread button part of the link and given 0px gap if they were trying to trick people.

i'm not a fan of seeing links i use all time on top of adverts. (try the even smaller links to jump to a page)

obviously space above the fold is valuable but, and this is a personal view, i wouldn't do it. 10pix or 1mil pix. no internal links over external ads.

and if that doesn't work you could always add one of those dynamic javascript ads that whenever i scroll up and down the page, the ads follow me.

    i really love those.

    now that's interesting....

since my grumble last night about the "New Thread" & "Pages" links being directly on top of the ad, the code has changed so the clickable area of the ad has been reduced to where the graphic moves.

    thats quite a coincidence

It can be seasonal, having a website based on xmas or halloween is going to be seasonal.

Have a look on google trends to see if your keywords are showing the same pattern each month.

thanks. my site is meant for people looking for taxis and yes, the enquiries do peak around this time of year unsurprisingly.

my question is really about peoples' thoughts on why, when the traffic is up, the adsense conversions fall...

im not really expecting a scientific answer. it "could" be as simple as they are in a hurry and just go straight to calculate their fare...

i just dont know. only had adsense running since late october so still learning the ropes. So far it's been very good to me.

thank you for your kind words about the site.

which im not sure i agree with.. lol.. it needs a complete refurb.

luckily, thats not too much work as the site is based on a CMS system.

anyway. to be honest. 95% of the adsense income comes from the top banner ad. ive been seriously considering removing the bottom 2 ads as they dont convert and detract from the site...

    dunno..

    thoughts?

    Hello All,

I didn't want to open a new topic about Adsense so therefore thought I'd post my question in here too.

After a year of not evening opening my AdSense account as I personally thought it was a waste of time. I've actually found that Google owes me considerable about of money! For adverts that I didn't know I had on websites. It's with this in mind now that I know it's worth while sitting on the account for a year building up a nice sum to actually motivate me to do something about it.

Therefore I'd like to know that once my bank account has been submitted and that I've verified the account. Does Google automatically deposit sums, or in my case send me a cheque and is it consist? It looks like I'm earning a fat lump every month furthermore I'd like this money. Can I presume if the cheque comes on the 10th, it will be here within the 10th cleared by the 20th? Can I presume that every month as long as I have what is needed on the 20th I have a nice sum coming to me? In effect an "extra" wage?

    Thank you,

Hi Brian, in google's own words..
Google issues payments on a monthly cycle. Once your earnings reach the payment status, we'll schedule you for payment the following month.
For example, let's say your reporting currency is U.S. Dollars and your earnings reached $100 in February. As long as you don't have any payment holds, we'll send your payment before the end of March.

if you live in the uk you will have to earn £60.00 before you get paid.

also if your from the uk you should get payments sent by direct deposit.

    Hey Positive SEO

Thanks for making this clearer for me. I've never really been interested in placing advertisements on websites. Looking in to it, I placed a few adverts on some silly non-existent websites that apparently have earn't nice sums.

Thank you for your time :)

I take it that's aimed at me... sorry you have lost me

    It was aimed at me.

I obviously must have understood how Google Adsense had worked to earn money from it :) . However I haven't bothered with Google Adsense as explained I don't put adverts on websites. I do on the other hand understand and excel in Google Analytics, Google Adwords and Google Webmasters and understand all Google's API's.

I just didn't understand the money in the bank part ^_^ almost certainly the most important part Google Adsense THE MONEY
