In some forums if I want to add an image there is an option to insert image, when clicking on it a box appears to add the image (see below)

    drop image.jpg

in other forums/threads when clicking on the icon you only get the option to inset an image from a URL (see below)

    insert.jpg

    Why is this different?

In this forum it's configured so that members have permission to attach images as may be helpful for support purposes, but in other forums I didn't want free reign uploading images/videos onto the server so that permission is turned off.
You do have permission as a mod to upload images in the top secret mods forum ;)

Hi Ozzy, as a recent re-visitor, liking the current forum direction, but admit the lack of images is a little frustrating. Sometime pics do paint a thousand words. I think an image can bring a post to life or add context, eg example post

Understand concern over spam, security or malware, but there are plenty of safeguards these days. Images don't really take up much space on servers, storage is cheap as chips, and any images can be repackaged on upload and headers stripped. Spammers will always spam, text or images, but it would be nice to see a bit more imagery around the place.

There is also the added bonus of using any post images to show as your OG images, which will be more visual when social sharing. eg the above example post as FB sees it.

versus an image added to a forum page, which is then automatically selected as the shareable image. Not the best visual example, but you get the drift.

The ability to be able to demonstrate by even allowing me to add an image, reinforces the point, as that would be really hard to type!

    The defense rests M'Lud.

    Good morning!

    Thanks for suggesting this.

As it stands we currently do not have any plans to change the image permissions on the forum.

I will, however, flag this to the team. We have some updates coming out in the near future for the platform and I can certainly add this to the pile to be discussed.
