Ad server kills this site

I understand the need for ads on this site but your ad server (ads.sift.co.uk) at times renders the site unusable as it seems to choke when this site requests ads.

I don't think there is much Sift can do.

ads.sift.co.uk aliases to a Level 3 server, and Level 3 seem to have a routing problem this morning. It's not only UKBF that is affected by this.

The ad server is from a third party, it isn't Sift's own - whereas the vBulletin server is ours, in our own farm, and generally runs a processor load of less than 0.1% even with over 200 concurrent users.

However, the ad server is (supposedly ) a top notch enterprise level service from Akamai (www.akamai.com), regarded as one of the best. Based on what's happened, please be assured that I'll raise it with them. I really do hope it was a more generic issue with the web.

There were all kinds of routing problems yesterday - Geotrust is another site that was affected.

I am been disclosing the delay in loading caused by your ad server for ages. I do not think it is a one off problem

Just had a major delay loading pages in the forum, taking about half a minute to load a page, its finally sorted itself out now, but for a while the forum was slower than one running on shared hosting from a 99p a year hosting account.....

There were problems with sites hosted at Level 3 over the weekend, with many sites down completely for about half an hour Saurday tea time.

I know this becuase my sites are hosted at Level 3
