HI - could someone recommend accountancy software for a small taxi business please.

Ive had a look at a few online ones anid various packages and they dont appear to be what i need ( though that could just be me not understanding it all properly)

In essence i need to be able to record the following:

Cash coming in on a weekly basis from drivers
money coming in on a monthly basis from companies we do account work for

money going out on electricity / telephone / car loans etc
Money going out on fuel via a fuel account
vehicle maintenance and licensing etc

Now - ive had a look at kashflow but cant quite get my head round it as we dont have "customers" for example ( well we do but i only keep a record of customers on accounts and not day to day cash customers)

So - any suggestions?

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,

You can always set up Kashflow to record your cash sales as well as your customer sales?

Have you looked at Free Agent? Feel free to look at my 2 minute tour and you may see how it could help your business >>here<<

Again, you would need to configure the system to manage your cash sales but I'd assist you with getting everything setup and working.

Kind Regards

Neil

Solar accounts is good value and fairly straightforward. You don't have to use the customers facility - just record money received as a cash sale.

It's easy to get to grips with, but your accountant should be able to help you out. It's a one off payment of less than £100

Even simpler would be VT cashbook, which is free but wouldn't track your customer accounts for you

    Hi Dave

Accounts Portal will do exactly what you want - its a package I use for my own practice and have many clients using it as well. I think its one of the easier packages to learn to use and certainly thats the feedback I've got from clients I've recommended it to.

Dave just a thought have you spoken to your accountants about this? Accountants can often give discounted prices on software. We do this for our clients using Accounts Portal.

Hi Dave, I would recommend checking out OpenERP (google it).

The software is Open Source so you do not need to pay for it. Your costs would come from getting it implemented.

It is a very flexible solution so tweaking it for a taxi firm would not be an issue.

Feel free to contact me for more information.

    good luck

    Hi Dave

Please take a look at www.arithmo.co.uk. Our accounting software is designed for the small business. We offer a 14 day free trial and the standard version, which I believe would be suitable, only costs £35 per year.

If you like I can arrange a free webinar where you can discuss your requirments with the trainer and they can show you how to best use the system.

    Thanks

    Hello Dave,

It sounds to me as though you need a simple bookkeeping solution that's easy to use and adjust to your needs.

With most accounting systems, you will have ways to update customers/a customer list as you found in Kashflow.

In the E-conomic online accounting system, you can avoid "customers" entirely by ignoring the Sales (customer invoicing) feature and instead focus on the Bookkeeping feature where you can report your cash coming in from your drivers and going out for fuel, maintenance, etc. You can take a free trial of the E-conomic accounting system on our website and see how the Bookkeeping feature looks for yourself at e-conomic.co.uk.

Furthermore, if you're interested, E-conomic also has a free additional module called Dimensions which could enable you to easily view reports for each of your drivers. This way you could see an overview of income and expenses for each driver in just a few clicks.

We also have mobile apps that would allow you to take your accounts with you on the go.

There are some ideas! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Good luck finding a solution that works for you! :)

    Best regards,
