Hi Everyone.
Firstly, I want to say thank you for reading this post. I am thinking of doing my own accounting. I have a limited company (Builder) and was wondering if there is a software program that is easy to use where I can load my bank statements in and select each transaction to its own description, for example if i buy materials, I click on that transaction and the software gives me the option to describe what sort of transaction it is. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for any replies.

As Philip says most online packages do this to some extent, Accounts Portal is another one.

VT cashbook a basic free desk top package learns what transactions are for too, but the bank statement import facility is hard work.

What other features do you need eg invoicing, VAT requirements etc.?

Kashflow and Xero are two pieces of software which we would recommend. And looking at what MyAccountantOnline says, you should consider what other features you may need when selecting the right software for you.

Hello. I am not an accountant and have a couple of Ltd companies. I use Clearbooks and can confirm it will do what you want and a lot more. For example you can use 'Projects' so that costs and income are allocated to specific jobs.

However, I also have an accountant, which I regard as essential for any Ltd company. Using software like Clearbooks does not take away that need.

Incidentally, my accountant is a Clearbooks expert, but I chose the accounts software before my accountant and not vice versa.
