Hello everyone. I run a single site cafe and am looking at reviewing my existing accountant. If my primary requirement is online book keeping, VAT, year end submissions what should I be paying and are there any recommendations for accountants or online services?

It's impossible to answer what you should be paying with so little information.

If you are happy to give more information you may be able to get some ball park figures.

If you are only looking to change to reduce what you pay your accountant have you discussed the fees with them? It may be that you can do something to reduce the time your accountant is spending and hence the fees they charge.

What you should be paying depends on you, are you a limited company or a sole trader, and what's your payroll and bookkeeping like?

Most accountants or bookkeepers will charge based on the company structure and quality/quantity of your receipts and invoices, plus VAT complexity; e.g. flat rate or not etc.

We work with All Tax, they provide online accounting software free as part of the package, and are happy to do everything online. They charge a fixed monthly fee for only the services you want, plus include advice and support for free too.
