If you just want something really simple, and free, have you taken a look at VT cashbook?

I used to use Sage Instant, which is not too pricey (about £90 I think) and will do all you need.

FreeAgent (£15 per month, cloud based) is simple and has plenty of features, and it evidently has time-tracking and project management tools.

Otherwise, if your accounts are very simple, keep an Excel or Open Office spreadsheet.

Mr Beesley

Our software package assists you in tracking orders and assists you every step of the way, making you aware by email if an invoice is not paid on time, who is due to pay and the proposes the next step in the collection process . You can list all open orders, overdue orders, send invoice reminders, and pre legal letters automatically through our office. In effect this means that you get free pre-legal debt recovery in our 7, 14 and 28 day pre-legal letters, which whether you decide to take legal action or not is extremely effective. The revised terms and conditions included in the Credit Control System means that all debt recovery costs can be recovered from the debtor.

ICE Pro-Active Credit Control also monitors payment history and the clients credit file to ensure that if the account does need recovery, you are dealing with a solvent debtor.

Included in the ICE Pro-Active Credit Control system is also the Customer Relationship Management aspect which allows you to note all correspondence with your clients, and you can save review dates, and follow up appointments.

Because the ICE Pro-Active Credit Control system is online you can access information anywhere at any time.

The ICE Pro-Active Credit Control system is ideal for small to medium enterprises, as it is cost effective and allows for the free pre-legal recovery.

Best Regards

Rule 7: the only appropriate places to directly advertise your services / products are the Tenders and Marketplace forums. Unsolicited posting for purely self-promotional reasons (i.e. only directly offering products and services with no additional support) will be removed and will incur a strike.

Is there no 'try before you buy' option for this software? Most accounting solutions offer this, and I think it's important that you to get an idea of the look and feel of the software and play around with it, before you make that important decision of which one to go with.

Also, is there any support available?

With 'basic layout', do you mean using a simple spreadsheet?

I'm sure if you give more information, people here would be able to give you properly targeted advice.

Hi

Thanks for the question. We of course offer a 'try before you buy' option for this software. Support is available, but as it is easy to use support calls are far and few.
Not a simple spreadsheet no. It is quite simply easy to use, all you need to do is 'approve' or 'decline' what the action the system recommends.

Sage 50 is very hard to use. I bought that and it has been terrible to learn. It is good if your clients pay in full, but not very adaptable when amounts don't add up and gets very technical.

I now have full grey hair and I cannot sleep at nights :(.

Rather than get stressed, maybe use a bookkeeper? I am sure there must be a few near you, wherever you are based, and because it is their area of expertise you probably will not end up with a very large bill. Make sure you agree the fee up front though!

With all due respect, my questions were for the OP on the software they were considering on e-bay.
