A welly

This morning whilst taking the kids to school, I noticed there was a single, solitary welly boot on our drive.

It's rather wet here at the minute, so it beggars a few questions. Was a one legged man discarding a boot that's surplus to requirements? If not, did the man hop home?

Strange the things that get left behind. I recall reading something about the stuff that gets left behind on the underground (one shoe, false legs etc.).

Just made me chuckle this morning thinking about it.

In some areas, gangs hang trainers from overhead wires....

Maybe its a new, older generation gang?...

I lost a shoe once.
I was walking home from a wedding with my b/f. I'd a few small sherries as you do. My shoes were hurting. So I took them off and duly gave them both to my equally drunk b/f.
When we got home there was only one shoe. As you can imagine I was devastated. I even considered putting up "lost shoe" posters around the village. Of the "have you seen this shoe" variety. I didn't tho.
But to my surprise, my shoe turned up slowly, piece by piece. First to appear was the ankle strap, then the flower off the front, followed by the rest of the shoe which was found on the garden wall 4 days after it was lost!!!
My kids now say when they see a lone shoe at the side of the road "That person must've been drunk like mum!!"

Some of the things left in places just make me think ...how? ...why? Once I saw a pair of trainers at a bus stop!

I frequently see hats, gloves etc and obviously people have dropped them but when you see the odd sock, pair of pants...that kind of thing...kind of makes you wonder!

I'm thinking of making a feature of it. I may plant somethng in it, for example, a plant. Maybe it could become a public ammenity and I could have famous people like Jade Goody and Gareth Gates come and visit it.

I think you need to rethink your famous people... Arnold Schwarzenegger(spelling?!), Sly Stallone, Michael Douglas, Tom Cruise... famous people...

Try turning the welly upside down and placing over one spike of some metal railings. Not only will this make it more visible to the person who lost it and aid them finding it again, but it helps you get one over on your neighbours if they only have a lonesome woolly glove on their railings; which is just so common nowadays.

Any, if I lost one of my shoes I'd be hopping mad....

Update: this morning, the welly has vanished. Maybe the owner returned.
