A second blog at wordpress.com/blogger?

We have a Wordpress blog on our domain and post regularly.

Would it be beneficial to set up a new blog, on an external service such as wordpress.com or blogger, to write similar articles and linking to our main web site (where relevant)?

Or would it be a waste of my already small amount of free time?

If the objective is to get more back links to your main blog.I would write those articles and submit to an article website such as ezinearticles.com. Link those back to your main site/blog ( preferably a landing page with opt-in). There a number of good article directories out there, just be sure to submit a different version to each one, this will give more far more exposure and is less work than trying to run more than one blog.

I agree with article suggestion. I've been submitting a few 100% original articles to ezine and each one is generating a fair few click thru's to my blogs. Have yet to assess the quality of this traffic though, but the articles get more traffic than the blog entries themselves. It also gives you the ability to have a keywords as a link in your resource box (the bit at the end of the article where you put your info) which I guess counts as a link.

Our blog is used to promote the products we sell, so I was thinking perhaps a second blog - linking to our main web site and/or product pages - may help?

I'm just not sure how much you'd benefit from the links, as the new blog would be seen by Google as having much authority.

With articles on Ezine I think you'd get traffic to your blog for each article you submitted, plus link value.
