A new warm corner in London

A friend of mine is thinking to open a new small business in London. Small cafeteria, homebaked cakes, corner to sell handmade crafts. Maybe also short term baby sitting with some games for kids and so on.
A kind of family friendly / oriented small Starbucks. I do not live in London now. What do you think about the idea? Any experience of similar businesses going well or closing suddenly?
