Hi

We have a Dlink DWR 921 router which has the backup 4G option, recent issue with the phone line over Christmas so its running on 4G and we have this antenna:

Problem is the whole of yesterday the router was flashing red (no signal) and when I looked at the router status page it was constantly trying to connect.

I connected to the internet via my phone which worked fine so I know it wasnt the network, both on EE, the antenna is approximately 18 months old and I cant really see anything inside it which could go wrong, I cant imagine its the router as they tend to go on for years??

Foolishly I threw out the stubby antennas that came with the router so I cant eliminate the external antenna at this stage.

Is there a more robust antenna which I could use instead?

I'm getting an o2 sim card as well as a neighbour uses 4G on o2 and seems to have a good connection while my EE can be hit and miss

Thanks

Process of elimination I think it's the router, spoke to DLink who said EE have made some changes and getting ready for IPv6 but my model router only supports IPv4.

Managed to find the antennas that came with the router, no signal, rules out the antenna, found my 4GEE mobile hotspot and the SIM card worked fine, rules out the SIM card.

During this I have restored to factory the router and the only thing I'm wondering is if I need to enter a password for the SIM card in the router settings but I don't need to in the hotspot device so I'm guessing it's a new router
