2nd interview went well but........

My daughter attended a 2nd interview last week and was told she was definitely on the list of possibles, but they have three more people to see yet.
The problem is that, due to holidays, the company will not be seeing these other candidates for another 4 weeks!
She feels that, however well she has done, and how ever impressed they are with her, at the end of 4 weeks she will have been forgotten. How can my daughter keep her name in the company's mind during the intervening period.
Really need your help, this job is just perfect for her?

Hi Sarah,

Just my humble opinion but if she made that good an impression they will not forget her. If they do anything like me they make notes about each candidate (I even set up a checklist and give them a rating out of 10 for their competencies, as far as I can see), so she will not be forgotten, or they will have wasted your daughter's and their time.

I would recommend a handwritten note to whoever interviewed her (the decision maker/influencer) thanking them for inviting her back and how it has convinced her that it is the right job, etc, etc.

Don't go over the top, but she needs to convey that she wants the position, she is keen and excited, and will do a good job

It worked for me, and was mentioned on my first day.

Personally, I would leave it until just before the time that they are about to interview the other candidates. At that point, I would write a letter thanking them for their time and re-iterating her interest in the position etc. Do not write now as they will not be thinking of that position until it is interview time for the other candidates.

Having been in recruitment for 19 years, I can tell you that it does work, as the other member suggested. Fingers crossed for her!

I couldn't agree more with AMM.

The final interviewee often leaves the most lasting impression (good or bad), so your daughter needs to re-iterate her interest at this time. She could even suggest, just before the time, that she come in to speak to them again (perhaps she has a few questions she could ask, or points she could go over), and if she's really lucky, make it after the others.

Good luck to her.
