Right here the question. 20K spare cash, not a lot of money in the business world but sitting here doing nowt. What would you lot do with it and why?

Naturally this question is not intended for gambling ideas neither for any high risk trading, although would love to know how to trade in High risk shares but I don’t lol :) therefore purely plausible business ventures :)

Thanks for your thought in advance :)

The first thing I would suggest is that if you have 20K keep quite about it. There are plenty of dishonest people who would love to get their hands on it and plenty of service providers, who generally honest, would take it into account when quoting for their services.

A business idea either stacks up or it doesn't. If it does stack up and it needs investment fine. If it can be done for less even better.

A good business idea is more about using your available skills and doing something you enjoy rather than the amount of money you have available

I am not suggesting it is under my pillow :D nor am I asking for service providers. I love this site but am well aware of the ease of opening an account and claiming the world,
However in saying that I am not suggesting everyone on here would be bravado claimers, If that was my full belief then there would be little use in me using the forum. But good advice nevertheless!

Both responses so far have picked up on the fact that it should be something you enjoy, of course that is a viable statement. However I was and am merely wondering what and where other people would invest money. preferably a business venture where you can see something growing. Yes that boils back to interests, however and I do acknowledge the importance, if we could leave that to one side and look at the biggest growing areas if there is such a thing in this day and age and simply what you would do :)

I must also state I am not after stealing Ideas as I am a lazy sod with a lack of vision and imagination :D I am simply using this forum and community to broaden my thoughts :)

Thanks

to answer the question, if i had no other business and no new business ideas.

Which is what i suggested to a friend of mine a year or to ago who had about 50k and he did very well indeed.

if you have contacts in the business or local authority sectors I could do with a partner ;) We provide a very good service just need a little investment in time, sales and cash, catch 22 really.

Apart from that back some app developers, it shouldn't take much money the guys just want to live while working then make their money when you do.... its an idea just wish I had the cash to take a punt

Hire a patent attorney to take care of my inventions in UK or USA or any other countries. In return 50% of them becomes your intellectual property.

Depends on your risk profile and this is risky

Have a client with an invention. Patent and tooling costs are horrendous.

Large distributors want the product for nothing. Smaller retailers are expensive to service.

Got patents for USA but large companies ripped it off after asking for samples supposedly to act as distributors.

I believe you can take out insurance in case you need to sue but its all extra cost

Nothing the matter with copying and even improving on good ideas.

Pointless reinventing the wheel but if you can make it in carbon fibre so much the better

There is more than way to skin a cat. These inventions can be made to a billion pound business. If we get the patent we can license them safely without any risks.

Here's an interesting one for you...

We ( myself & two brothers ) have designed and are in the process of manufacturing a new card trading game - Conflicting Kingdoms. It has a unique method of play, hugely collectable and versatile.
Magic the Gathering is the closest type of game I can refer to and their turnover is gigantic all over the world.
We have invested around 30k to date and the first print run is with the printers right now as we speak.
This is something special, an idea of ten years or so ago and two years of solid design, investment and planning.
If it is of interest, we could use some extra funding to get us to to market, we are hoping to get a retailer to place a decent order.
We launch the product at the UKGamesExpo at Birmingham in June...
Thanks, Stuart.
