1500 emails of 'Auto Traffic Avalanche for only $29.95'

Morning,

Just checked my email account and I had 1500 odd email accounts in my inbox from our email account and advertising 'Auto Traffic Avalanche for only $29.95'

How has this happened and what do I need to do to stop this ? Is it related to our contact us form on our website at the top right hand side or something ?

Do you have a contact form on your website? If so I'd recommend using a Captcha image (see here; http://miabeautygallery.co.uk/contactus)

If not, do you have any software on your PC like McAFee? That deletes some of my SPAM, most of the rest is picked up by Outlook.

Depends on what client your using and whether you're using an Exchange server.

it could be that they have simply spoofed your email address.

Does look like your contact form could be compromised and being used to BCC bulk spam.

Its something to be worried about because your domain will quickly get blacklisted and none of your emails will get out.

It's actually pretty easy to prevent, eg

For now you might want to take the form down completely and just use something like this:
http://rumkin.com/tools/mailto_encoder/simple.php

So you can just have a mailto link.

I had that seriously had over 20k worth of return to sender emails was old actinic site that did it so simply rebuilt the php form myself, simples.
