123reg.com Problems

Anybody had problems with 123 Reg?

I asked for a password reminder and although their system said it had sent one it didn't arrive. I have completed 3 of their contact forms now asking them to unlock the the .com and provide an auth which is what Fasthosts has asked for to transfer to them.

As I've had problems with that email account before, I even sent them an alternative one but still nothing :|

Cheers guys x

No, no probs and dealt with them yesterday.

But...arrghhh! 123 to Fasthosts?

I hate to ask, but have you been using mental floss?:)

I can't remember why we did it at the time but that's what we did with the .co.uk to host the wordpress blog :| ...

Trust me I don't NEED to use mental floss :D x

Why do you think they're ignoring me Dawg :( ...

Someone claiming to be from 123-reg replied to an old post here on UKBF yesterday. So maybe they'll see your SOS and help?

See: http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=202477

Of course, as Dominic says. If you do decide to switch to a domain name registrar with more personal support there's plenty of us here on UKBF :)

Like 123-reg we're Nominet approved so swapping domains across is very easy. Plus no downtime.

All the best,

Rich.

I asked for a password reminder and although their system said it had sent one it didn't arrive.

In most cases of password reminders not arriving are any of
1. you're running something which blocked it
2. it's been picked up by your ISP/Mailserver and blocked
3. it's being sent to the wrong mailbox (usually caused by an old hosting account of old dns entry)

Try checking your spam folder and whitelisting them and then requesting another.

Well finally I had an email from 123 reg:

Hi
the domain is unlocked and thr EPP code is
***********
regards
Phil
123reg.com

Went into Fasthosts to do the transfer and it's saying this:

******.com cannot be transferred at this time.

*******.com is currently locked. In order to transfer it, you must contact your current domain registration provider and ask them to unlock it and provide you with an "AUTH code".
******.com cannot be transferred at this time.

Essential checks on your domain name have not been possible due to temporary problems contacting the domain registry. The transfer cannot be progressed at this time.

Any ideas anyone :| x

Hi there, I work with 123, you can email me the domain name and your account username (please include the email address that should be on your account as well), and I can look to make sure all things are good.

My email : richard.winslow
I can not post the whole email address, so you can guess AT123...

Richard.

be sure that you are having them sent to an accont you are collecting. AND that there isnt a SPAM filter on the account

I had this with a clinet a few weeks back, and it turns out he registered it on his wifes e-mail address!

A lot of my accounts at work (work for an IT company) keep having poblems with them and getting more than one bill off them even after they have cancelled which seems a little odd. In my only dealing with them personally I thought they were very helpful.

Hi Richard I have just replied to the email sent from Phil at 123reg.com but the reply went to

Could you please look into it from there as with all due respect you could be anyone  x

Simply, I can not post an email address or link in the forum, as a new user. However you know the website of 123-reg, and so if you send email to that domain name with richard.winslow before hand, it will come to me.

Richard.

I find that a lot of my clients will often choose places like 123 reg where the BASIC product is cheaper and then they are hit with the upsell and charged for things like mySQL databases etc.

I had to try and get a password reset to change a nameserver for somebody, it was a nightmare and something that should take a minute took about 3 hours with phone calls, emails etc.

Hi FaerieB,

Perhaps I can help I work for 123-reg,

In cases such as this we usually find that the contact email address of the 123-reg account is not up to date.

If you can pm with your domain and the contact email address on your account with us then I would be happy to look into this for you.

Alternatively if you wish you can contact the 123-reg support team.

123-reg 0871 230 9525

Regards,

Ricky

Hi Tommo

What does p/o mean ....

I have had a pm from webfusion this morning but it is yet another email address I'm to contact.

Webfusion ... I've just requested a password reminder again and it hasn't arrived. You know the domain as I told it you on here yesterday. As to the email address ... your system must have the correct one as proved by the emails which I posted earlier on this thread.

Could you also please confirm that what Massey has said is correct and you wouldn't release the domain for 6 months anyway.

Many Thanks :) x

Web fusion and 123 reg are one and the same, instead of paying a fortune for them to sort out their problem I simply looked up the number on the say no to 0870 database and got you a local rate number :) The options are just the IVR (press 1 to..)

There must be an issue somewhere between their email system and your email address - I'd give them a call or try a different email address. We occassionally see things where the client has been unable to contact us for whatever reason - eg we once had a rather annoyed gentleman who said he had been calling all day and never got through, but who had accidentally dialled the wrong number and had been redialling it.

So summary is to always try multiple methods as the majority of companies will get back to you within 24 hours / 1 business day.

If you have no luck you can usually go to the parent registry too eg Nominet for .uk domains / Opensrs for 123-reg (though I believe they recently began migrating domains to their own direct ICANN account)

I have sent them alternative email addresses to contact me at but still they haven't contacted me or sent me a password.

I cannot afford to spend hours on the phone with them :( x

Just has this email ... anyone any ideas what to do next:|

Thanks for your email.

The reason I stopped responding to the thread was because your domain
tillybalou.com is with www.123reg.com (probably based in the US) not
www.123-reg.co.uk which is the company (based in the UK) I work for and
therefore I am unable to help.

Sorry for the confusion but www.123reg.com is not part of the Webfusion
group and we are not affiliated in any way.

Your domain is held by 123reg.com and not 123-reg.com / .co.uk

You will need to contact 123reg.com to get your domain control.
