Think this is where I should have posted.

Do any of you people who work in IT know the situation with this lot.
I have a small home made site which I parked on 110mb free hosting 3 years ago. It's just a joke thing between friends with a handful of visitors, so I wasn't looking for a top professional hosting service.
Last week I decided to update the site. I couldn't sign in, username wrong, password wrong etc! Looking on a forum it seems they are under new management and moving to new servers (they didn't tell anybody this). Stacks of complaints. I found a utility which told me which server I was on (box number) and the address but it's down, some box nrs are working, some not.
So I still can't get to my site to alter or more likely delete it and leave (it is still up on the internet OK).
Well you might tell me to pay next time, you might be right, but it being a leisure hobby thing it was no big deal. I am sure that free account holders are a pain in the ass and OK, if they don't want me then tell me to leave, or advise me your rates and i'll consider it, but it's like getting sacked and not being allowed in to clear your desk because the locks have been changed. I just want to put the site elsewhere and delete this one, then tell my friends where the new site is.
Anybody know what this company are doing? Customer service is non existent by the way. They appear not to have any full time staff!

I used 110mb years ago before they were sold for the first time, and the service went downhill then. I haven't been on there for absolutely ages but it was never uncommon for there to be a box offline every week.

Unfortunately the only way you will get an answer is post on the forums or email them, but don't hold up hope for a answer.

Is it a database driven site (Wordpress/Jumla etc) or was/is it just html and css files?
No I used a simple html based template which I had to edit a bit, then loaded it up to their server by FTP. I could recreate it elsewhere easily enough. I'd just like to take it down from 110mb.com, but as I can't log in or get their attention :( What can I do, can't remove it from outside can I?

All depends where you registered your domain....

You can set up new hosting on a new server.
Rip your html and css from your old host.
Upload your files to the new host.
Then point your domain at the new host. This is done via your domain registrar. If you registered your domain with the same people, then you have as issue.

Hi Estimator, I can see why you went with free hosting here but it's nearly always a headache like this. They simply don't care about their users.

You can actually get good quality hosting for very little, and then instead of being treated like that you can get help with your website and all the support you need.

I'd just drop them a message asking to have it removed, giving all the details you can. They'll eventually get round to it hopefully.

As said, if you own your own domain which you've registered elsewhere and is currently pointing to your site, you can simply change the nameservers of your domain to your new host, or transfer it to them, and the domain will then take you to your new webspace. So your old site will then still be online, but only accessible via IP address, and not your domain.

I'm happy to help if you've got any questions, feel free to start live chat on our site if you fancy a chat. Good luck! :)

As I said earlier customer service is 'not working'.
The domain name given is 'yoursite.110mb.com' so I suppose that they own the domain.
Not a problem, I expect little from a free hosting service, as I said it's just a hobby site. No financial/ business value - only sentimental.
It's just that I met with old friends at the weekend and promised to update the website right away to include up to date banter etc. No such luck, I can't get into it, not even to remove it, it's just hanging there like an out of date bad smell.
I notice from the posts on other forums, that this situation can go on for months/ years.
