1 Month Event Holiday Pay Query

We will shortly be running an event for a 1 month period. We have recruited 30 new staff members to cover this event.

All of the staff will have varied hours dependent on the number of shifts that they can work over the 1 month period, they will be advising us of their availability and we will be rotering them in based on their availability.

Due to the short-term nature of the event we would like to pay them their holiday entitlement based on their hours worked at the end of the month. We will be paying them weekly. Their final payslips would have a separate entry showing their holiday pay. I know that rolling up holiday pay is not legal but I would really appreciate it if someone could confirm that our approach would not be deemed as illegal.

Many thanks

They are obviously unable to take their holiday during their working time, and will have genuine outstanding holiday entitlement when they are dismissed at the end of their contract. You are perfectly, legally, entitled to pay them this outstanding holiday entitlement, rather than allowing them to take it. I use 12.07% of pay as the easiest way to calculate holiday entitlement.
