Whilst filing a confirmation statement on Companies House I was offered the option of joining PROOF (PROtected Online Filing).
The service "is a free service offering additional protection for your company from the threat of fraudsters and corporate identity theft."
Essentially it prevents bogus paper filings, which I recall others have experienced and posted about it here on UKBF.

You tick the box, press the button and you're done.
