Where can I get practical Shopify user guidance?

We've just moved form Magento to Shopify and we now need someone to advise on practical issues like:
- how do we import orders from eBay/Amazon into Shopify (i.e. what app to use)? We used to have M2E Pro on Magento but they don't do a Shopify module
- how do we run multi-currency site that allows us have independent GBP and USD pricing?
- linked to that, how do we do it with out having to use sub-domains
- linked to the previous query, how do we have it so Klarna appears on the GBP site but not the USD site

..and so on. I'm not sure it's pure developer work we need - or maybe it is - but we certainly need help from someone who has run a multi-currency Shopify site.

Can anyone make a recommendation please?

This is a good place to start:

Are you sure all those options are even possible on shopify?

Some only appear to be available if you are paying for advanced versions of shopify:

Exactly what I was thinking, and my guess is probably not... or somewhat but not very customisable.

Absolutely insane how people move from open / developer friendly & self hosted platforms to completely locked down platforms and expect extreme configurability.

Good luck is all I can say... ;)

Thank you This is helpful but I think I still need someone to help us with these issues so if anyone can recommend someone, please let me know.
Ask on the shopify community. That’s where you will find the expert developers.

I did have a quick look and I don’t think you can do what you want. Except maybe on shopify plus - and that’s bonkers expensive.

In my defence, getting good advice on these topics is difficult. There are many who advertise as experts who say they have the solutions but in reality they're somewhat making it up as they go along. I've been caught like that before.

And so you end up trusting a market leader and hope there's safety in numbers. Hence Shopify. If we've made a mistake then all I can say is we will endeavour to learn from it but right now we are where we are and trying to figure it out.

Thank you but I always prefer to get a third party recommendation hence why I'm trying here first.
There is a member here does a lot of Shopify work. Can't remember who it is right now. Hopefully they will join this thread.

That being said - I think you would be far better off using a self hosted ecommerce solution as you have far more flexibility.

Thank you. I am open to that conversation. We are not wedded to Shopify and are platform agnostic. We just want the one that works best. But where does one get advice on this? QED.

Talk to some developers. Talk about your requirements. Write up a full specification and post in the ‘I’m looking for…’ forum.

My money would be on @antropy our resident OpenCart expert.

Why do you want to import orders from eBay/Amazon to Shopify? Surely better to import all orders from these places into order management software?

You can run multi currency for free using the geo location app. You need to add all the countries / currencies you want in the "markets" section. You don't need sub-domains to do this. To get independent pricing you need Shopify advanced or Shopify plus subscription.

We just use the rounding tool for the exchange rate rather than setting specific pricing for each region, so you don't have the worry about currency fluctuations as they'll update it daily.

No idea about the Klarna.

    I would 100% echo this.

Thanks very much, we would indeed be happy to advise/estimate, contact us: [email protected]

Exactly this - an open source platform like Magento is happy to work as a central order management system, but something like Shopify isn't suited to that.
