Hi everyone, I hope you are doing great as well as your respective businesses.
I am starting my own business in my country which is under developed in terms of technology and web so getting clients is a very hard task. Did you get through the same situation when starting your business? what do you suggest to get more clients? Do you think oppening to the international is a wise decision ?

Advertising works. You can use adwords, banner ads, advertorials, forum ads and so on. Then there is gumtree, freelancer sites, groupon and any other manner of marketing channels.

It is hard work. Expect to spend more time marketing than you do building websites.

Thank you fisicx but freelance websites are full of competition and finding serious clients is very hard since developers sell there services for very very cheap, I personally found an android developer who is willing to work for 1$/hours.

No problem, actually people here are just realising the importance of the web so there is a lot of interest but still business owners don't know how things exactly work like for hosting, domain names etc, so they are not sure if they should invest in getting a website.

Don't sell websites. Sell the benefits of being online. Show how an online presence can increase business. Once you have got their interest you can show them different ways of getting online.

There you go the answer, similar to th e UK was 10-15 years ago.

How you sell is simple, you get in front of businesses and explain how websites can transform their business.

One very good way is to do talks - not concentrating on selling but on imparting knowledge, you can do talks to local business groups etc they normally are crying out for speakers.

For instance we did a talk to 40 dentists as part of one of their meet ups, just really explaining in layman's terms how Google works in listing website, now you may think we were selling SEO, no, we selling building websites. After the talk 4 dentists contacted us and bought websites from us...

Sounds like an opportunity not to be missed. What's the average wage for a Web developer in your country?

This sounds like a good option, starting by explaining how the web works then selling them your services. thank you

You need to offer the whole package to companies who can afford you, its of little use to offer to make a 5 page website to say a carpenter, but far better to offer a e-commerce site with full help maintaining it and inputting all the products to say a jeweler shop

You need to probably work with one main e-commerce package and have good SEO and ecommerce knowledge to offer the whole package and latter integrate it to there accounts if possible

Have small samples of relative sites to show your potential clients so they can understand the benefits

Are you walking into Businesses and meeting decision owners or just posting online?

It's easier to make a Big sale face to face.

Forget Competitor charges and focus on your value.

& How good is your 1$ per Hour Android developer? Some might need an introduction :D,
Am doing both, meeting business people and posting online.
I heard the 1$/hour developers are leaders in the copy past business lol

I'd say work on building a strong referral system into your Business.

Looking at things I buy I buy with the least resistance when someone trusted refers a product/service to me.
