Invoicing Period Question

Hi

I have a question about invoicing for a client. Previously, I worked for a client for a fixed amount every month.

I've started working for them again but this time we have agreed 30 hrs/week to be invoiced monthly.
That's all very neat for March when my start date was on the 18th. and the end day being 31st which was on a Sunday: 2 neat weeks that fit in exactly.

But looking at this month, there's the 29th and 30th in a new week with that week mostly being in May.

Is there a convention about how to do this best?

Would it be acceptable to put in the "April" invoice as being for1st April to 27 April (Exactly 4 weeks), and having the 29th and 30th April being in the "May" invoice?

Are you working for anyone else as well as this client?

I ask because there are many unscruplous business owners out there who employ a member of staff but insist that they do so as 'self employed', when they are clearly an employee. 30 hours every week sounds like a part time job to me.

    Thanks for the replies everybody.

It started off being 4-6 weeks to cover someone unexpected leaving, so I am indeed doing a job that was previously done by an employee. Now they're talking about it going on longer. If it does become ongoing I'll certainly be thinking of pushing for employee status, but it's tricky because the reason I stopped working for them previously was that they were moving from contractor to office-based, and I just might push them into re-hiring (I don't live close enough for me to apply). Need to make myself indispensable first and show them they don't need to have someone sitting in their office.
