Do I need FCA authorisation to generate life insurance leads?

Title says it all really!

I am planning to use my website to generate leads.

I'll identify people who are interested in life cover, get them to fill in a form with their details, and then send them directly to an FCA authorised whole of market broker.

Do I need to be authorised/registered to do what I'm planning to do? I've spent a while reading through FCA policies but can't seem to get a straight answer.

Thanks all.

FCA Handbook link

I did read that page (multiple times), but it seems to be mainly concerned with generators dealing with:

"debt counselling or debt adjusting or providing credit information services"

Other than those services, it's not very explicit on what lead generators need to do, only on what the firms dealing with the lead generators need to be aware of.

If we use introducer's (lead generators will be one of those) we need to do due diligence on them and one of the things we would check is if they are authorised with the FCA.

You also need to be registered with the ICO and be GDPR compliant.

Fun and games.

Call the FCA, they are quite helpful.
