I've not been able to find any explicit information relating to this question from HMRC and I can't believe we're the only business doing this out there.
We buy good from one country (EU or EC) and sell them to another company who maybe be a UK company but the nature of the business means...
I think there are official motor importers but for private individuals it's a no no. I did read immigrants could bring one in but the duties are such that you wouldn't and it's made impossible. I guess all to protect local manufacturing and sales.
No it seems China is an impenetrable fortress where import is made nigh on impossible. You can't even get a straight answer out of Chinese customs when you get a Chinese resident to do the discussions.

Yes they do. Be it eu or rest of the world. My uk customers are less of an issue as they pay me uk vat. So no cash impact infact I then owe hmrc assuming I make a profit!
It means that my uk suppliers invoice the gib co tax free so need to pay the 20% vat. Savings a cash outlay. As an example I'm dealing in cars so we're talking 20% on several hundred thousand. Yes I can reclaim but cash wise it's draining.

Thanks both for your comments and sound advice and I will check it all out. The forums can be quite a good way of getting some direction on these matters beforehand and as ever I think with this one the message is clear, cross all the T's, dot the I's and then run a highlighter over the lot...
Hi,
I'm looking to buy a batch of cars from a US company. Potentially they will sell these to me duty free but they may not do that, the cars will then be delivered to Jacksonville port in Florida. I will sell the cars to my customer another UK company who will pick the cars up from...
Hi,
I am about to take a deposit against some stock that I am ordering on behalf of my customer. The stock will take 4 months to come through. The deposit is refundable if we can't fulfil the order in time which is fine but how should I account for these deposits in terms of:
a) VAT - Should I...
Hi,
I setup a limited company, myself as the only director. This was done for various reasons but my questions relates more to personal tax. Is it possible, to draw an irregular salary from the business and effectively pay annually like a sole trader?
The reason for this is that I'm a...
Hi, this seems to be a minefield of an area to navigate and if anyone could help i'd appreciate it...

I know where you're coming from but when you employ a design agency to carry out work you don't expect issues like this or these kinds of letters. If I wanted specific images I would buy them as we have done in the past. However, budgets being what they are, one image that is half the cost of...
