ipad, archos 101 or advent vega?

Title says it all really. Would be used for watching video on planes, surfing the net whilst away from home and some e-mail use. I've got a blackberry but sometimes I need to look at word, pdf and excel attachments. I've got a Mifi for internet access. What do people think? Liam P.S. I've...

Start up of a New driveway business

I agree totally. Put together a good portfolio. If you're just starting out you might need to do some jobs at cost for friends/family etc just to get the examples of what you can do. People want before, during and after pictures. I've got a big PIC driveway which after a few years needed...

Buying a business..best way to start bartering price

The rationale I've used in the past is this; 1. Work out what you think the real value of the assets are, i.e. what you could sell them for. 2. Work out a multiple of earnings. If the business has a long track record and sticky customers I might look at a max of three years earnings. If there...

    Help with Customs!!

"Until recently, one out of every 10 of my parcels would be stopped by the Customs and I would receive from HMRC charges for VAT and/or Import duty and clearance fee amounting approximately £28. Upon payment online the parcels would be released the following day and there would be no sign of...

    SSD Harddrives?

I've got one for my win 7 OS. the PC boots and restarts really quick. However on my machine the normal hard drive seems to go to sleep and whilst the computer whizzes along whilst browsing the net it can take time to start other programs - you can actually hear the fans start up when the old...

    Advice on partnership dispute PLEASE!!

Can you clarify - are you definely talking about a partnership or is it a limited company that each owns 50% of? If it's a partnership he doesn't have anything to sell. Your husband has gone into business with him and nobody else. The partner can't force him to work with anyone else. If it's a...

    Reselling Broadband/Hosting/Telecoms

If you want to be a Telecom reseller you need to think about what it is you want to do - Fixed line, mobile or both. Are you going to be an agent, i.e. you sell Company A's services and the customer gets a bill with Company A on it (you get a small commission). Are you going "white label" - You...

    Wages and cash flow

People seem to have sidetracked slightly from what I was saying. To clarify, my accountant doesn't have a problem with the low salary + dividends route. The point was that he didn't feel that HMRC would be happy with a director's pay being cut from £30k to £5k for what they saw as tax avoidance.

    Wages and cash flow

This contradicts the advice that I was given by my accountants. They said that to reduce a directors salary hmrc would expect a good commercial reason, e.g. significantly reduced hours, changed role etc. Paying less tax would not be a good reason nor would cashflow (just brings the company's...

    Loan Problem - HSBC.

The ombudsman wouldn't be interested at this stage. You need to contact the business manager and simply ask him/her for their boss's e-mail address. When you get that contact the boss in writing and explain the situation and include the fact that you aren't impressed by the business manager's...

    EBITDA and director salaries

It's the agent's job to make the business look as attractive as possible and as these are presumably not the statutory accounts then the term "legitimate" doesn't really apply. If the acquiring party isn't going to need something or someone (or that's the agent's assumption) then they will...

    Bossy partner

er, yes there is actually. If you are a director of a company you are required to put your efforts into making that company a success. You can't set up in competition (let alone steal it's customers) without the company's permission.
