    Lease contract - maintenance rent

Just thought I'd update the thread. I did have the lease reviewed inline with the heads of heads of terms that I was also sent, and as I suspected the maintenance rent clause was the one highlighted for most concern, along with pretty much all the other points I had raised an eyebrow at. My...

    Lease contract - maintenance rent

Thanks for you replies. @deniser - Yes, this is the only service charge applicable to the lease. There is no balancing exercise mentioned. Both - Agreed, I have no problem with a maintenance rent, it's just the lack of any control over an increase or the number of them. Now, this is for an...

    Lease contract - maintenance rent

Hi all, Looking over a lease contract given to me, nothing worries me too much apart from a part about maintenance rent. It basically says that maintenance rent is payable by the tenant at the rate of £150 per month subject to clause 5.7. 5.7 reads: "The Maintenance Rent shall be such sum as...

    Hermes to supplement current business

Not a response to your question but Hermes makes be groan. I order a lot from Amazon and most of the time stuff is delivered by DPD which I love because you get a one hour delivery slot sent to you first thing in the morning so I don't have to stay in all day, and they hit that slot every time...

    Business Use Class

Hello all, Say I have an industrial unit and run a business within B1 & B2, and this accounts for the total of my business. Am I allowed to branch out into another business area without applying for a additional usage category? Case in point would be to have one or two cars for sale a month...

Payment terms, how lenient should you be?

I accept all opinions on this subject equally. I can't afford to be like that, just saying it would be nice if I had the option. For the purposes of this thread I am Switzerland on the subject, but I am also a big fan of good customer service, and go the extra mile for my clients because I...

Payment terms, how lenient should you be?

Ok poor analogy, but I still respect his decision and am jealous he can afford to stand by it :)

Payment terms, how lenient should you be?

That's a fair point. You don't expect to walk out of a supermarket on a Wednesday and leave without paying for your shopping saying "well I pay for everything on a Saturday because it's easier". Of course, you have to be able to afford to turn customers away who refuse to pay like this.

Payment terms, how lenient should you be?

I can't say how common attitudes like that are (i.e. I ignore the date and just pay on my timetable), but late/delayed payment is a problem that can sink a business. If this person is a regular customer, they do pay regularly but on their defined schedule, and you can afford to wait that little...

Can I run without an accountant

I think others have implied it but crikey that's expensive. Shop around.

    Northern Powerhouse?????

I'm not sure how seriously to be honest, but I've often thought the same. I wonder how many others do? The validity of the stated benefits of Scottish independence aside, and also that all of my clients are further south than me with the majority in London, I've always felt closer to Scotland...

    Northern Powerhouse?????

That's my point. It has northern in the name, but has very little to do with the true north. The name is wrong and I like your suggestion better.

    Northern Powerhouse?????

Again the government forget that Cumbria is part of England. They forget there is about 150 miles of England north of their "northern" powerhouse. Sometimes they mention Newcastle, but when they do I get the impression the government thinks the Irish Sea laps the western coastline of Tyne &...

Europe should we stay in or get out?

Ok, replace 'may' with 'will' in the post you quoted. My use of 'may' was allowing for the chance of goods slipping through the net. My point was to do with goods going into the EU if we were outside of it. For that the rules are quire clear.

Europe should we stay in or get out?

It's not the responsibility of any Chinese manufacturer to comply with any rules (other than those set in China I suppose). It's the importer's responsibility to make products comply with inspections of production runs for certification etc... It costs money, but it's a fact. Yes, some will...
